The words, and what they mean

GLOSSARY
Contraction delay
Hold start to the first involuntary diaphragm contraction. The headline number — a later first contraction is a retrained CO2 alarm.
Breakpoint margin
Total hold minus first contraction: the part of the hold spent past the alarm. Widening over weeks is genuine adaptation.
Gap ratio
Breakpoint margin divided by total hold, averaged over rounds with a logged contraction. Under 0.25, the level repeats — contractions that late in a hold mean the alarm is being overridden.
CO2 table
Fixed holds, shrinking rests. Builds tolerance to rising CO2 with oxygen never a limiting factor. The beginner's home.
O2 table
Fixed rests, growing holds. Produces real desaturation — capped final hold, two sessions a week at most, stricter solo.
Hook breathing
The 15-second recovery pattern after every hold: quick inhale, brief hold, slow release, three times. Most loss-of-motor-control events arrive 5–15 seconds after a hold ends — recovery is not skippable.
Tidal breathe-up
Two minutes of ordinary, quiet breathing before the first hold — 4 seconds in, 8 seconds out. Fixed. Deeper or faster breathing removes the alarm without adding oxygen; mora will never pace you into it.
Bradycardia onset
Seconds until heart rate first holds 5 bpm under the pre-hold baseline — the dive reflex arriving. An observation with context, never a score.
INSTALL

Install mora

mora installs from the browser: use the Install action where offered, or Share → Add to Home Screen on iPhone and iPad. The stream is a mirror of your devices — recording happens on the phone or the watch.

  1. Open mora in Safari — Add to Home Screen exists nowhere else on iOS.
  2. Tap the Share button in the toolbar.
  3. Scroll to Add to Home Screen, then Add.
  4. mora opens from the home screen without browser chrome.
REPLAY THE INTRODUCTION

Four cards, the same ones as the first visit.

Stream

Every session, newest first, in the order they were recorded. Each row reads total hold, first contraction and gap ratio. A row with no taps shows a dash — mora never fills a number in for you.

Session detail

The per-round table: target, actual, first contraction, why the hold stopped, and the heart-rate nadir when a strap was recording. The timeline underneath places each contraction tap inside its hold.

Upload

For sessions that never synced — a watch .fit or a phone .json. Importing the same file twice is safe; the client id makes it one record.

The caution

A gap ratio under 0.25 is flagged on the row and nowhere celebrated. It means repeat the level. There are no streaks, no scores and no totals to beat in mora.

mora is not a medical device, and is unrelated to the clinical "MORA" oral appliance.
